    Key qualifications

    More than 20 years of experience in computer science and statistics education and research. Experience of more than 10 years in helaht informatics and telematics and in biomedical and public health reseach in the frame of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila and at the Center for Health Statistics, Informatics and Medical Documentation of the Romanian Ministry of Health. In the last 7 years I was project and research manager for medical information local systems, consultant in health informatics for hospitals and the Minsitry of Health, associate researcher at the Institute for Research in Informatics and health informatics consultant and promoter of nursing informatics. I am associate professor in informatics and statistics at the "Lucian Blaga" and "Dimitrie Cantemir" Universities. I am also a professor of management and informatics at the Post-basic school of Nursing "V. Babes" in Bucharest. The experience of working in international research teams ws gained at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles - School of Public Health and IRIDIA (Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Development in Artificial Intelligence), as a beneficiary of research and doctoral fellowships. I have permanent scientific contacts with the Assistance Publique-Hopitaux de Paris, France, Hopital des Cadoles and Newis S.A. Neuchatel, Swiss, the KUL-Gatshuisberg Hospital, Leuven, Belgium and other European medical informatics centers and hence up-to-day view of the developments of health informatics and telematics in Europe. Some of the research achievements are mirrored in the Ph.D. reports in medical informatics and public health.

    Experience

  • 1971 - 1986 Expert Trainer in Computer Science at the Central Institute for Informatics in Bucharest and from 1986 expert in computer science training at the Training Center in Informatics - ICI Bucharest. Main tasks: education, project manager for research in CAI and CAL, writing tutorials, design of education expert systems, research manager, assistance and control of computer science activities at the national level, participation in international cooperation programs.
  • 1986 - 1989 Senior mathematician at the Faculty of Medicine in Bucharest, Biophysical Department. Main tasks: research (modelling and simulation), project manager for computer based biomedical research, design and implementation of student-database, training and consulting in medical informatics.
  • 1986-1994 Associate Professor at the Technical University of Bucharest, Dept. of Automation and Computers (computer science, medical decision making)
  • 1989 - at present Senior analyst programmer at the Ministry of Health Center for Health Statistics, Informatics and Medical Documentation. In 1997 - head of the department of Research for Medical Informatics. Main tasks: health information systems, statistical analysis, research on health indicators and epidemiological models, training in medical informatics, consulting, head of the team for promoting medical and nursing informatics, head of the team from promoting scientific cooperation, training coordinator for health informatics and telematics. Member of the Commission for Informatics, co-ordinator of international co-operation with EU and CEE countries.

  • 1996 - at present Associate Professor at the University "Lucian Blaga" - Faculty of Computing, in Sibiu (data bases design, communication networks design techniques, modelling and simulation) and at the "Dimitrie Cantemir" University - faculty of Psychology, in Targu Mures (applied statistics, methods and techniques for research studies).
